Abstract

The inclusion of women in leadership positions within higher education is transforming the university experience, not only from a strategic perspective in management and decision-making, but also in how academic communities organize themselves through dialogue, collaboration, and collective building. However, these advances have not been easy, as they have been limited by historical barriers and social resistance that for a long time prevented women from accessing positions of power, perpetuating inequalities that are difficult to eradicate. Despite this, the presence and training of women leaders have opened doors in the education sector, generating new forms of management that have forced a rethinking of the distribution of senior positions, moving towards more inclusive models.
